संपादकीय धोरण Editorial Policy
In short: We work from official sources and name them on every page. Our core rule is that if we cannot verify something, we do not state it. That is why we publish no season deadlines and no helpline number.
What this site is trying to do
Explain a government process clearly enough that someone can complete it, in the two languages its audience actually reads, without overstating what we know.
Where information comes from
We work down this order and stop at the highest level that answers the question:
- the official publisher of the app or portal being described, including its own store listing and privacy policy
- government sources on a
gov.indomain, including departmental circulars - official parliamentary answers and government programme documentation
- established news reporting, used only for context and always attributed
Pages name the sources they drew on, so you can check rather than take our word for it.
The rule that shapes this site
If we cannot verify it, we do not state it.
This is not a formality. It has concrete consequences you will notice while reading:
- We do not publish season deadlines we have not confirmed against an official notice. Instead we explain how to find the current date, which stays useful after any given date has passed.
- We do not publish a helpline number, because we could not verify a current official one and a wrong number is worse than none when fraudulent numbers circulate in search results.
- We do not list which staff designations are authorised to survey, because that is set by season-specific order.
- Where a question has no verifiable answer, the page says so in those words rather than offering a confident guess.
The site is built so this rule cannot be bypassed by accident. Season dates render from a table that prints an explicit “not verified by us” line until an operator enters a value taken from an official notice, and free-text settings fields that look like they contain a date or a deadline are refused.
How we handle user reports
Some of the most useful information about these apps comes from the people using them, particularly the problems they hit. We use public app-store reviews as evidence that a problem is real and widespread.
We are careful about what that evidence supports. A review shows that someone experienced a failure. It does not establish the cause, and it is not a statement of official policy. So we describe such things as user-reported, and we describe our suggestions as things to try rather than as fixes.
Original writing
Pages are written for this site. We do not copy competitor content and we do not paraphrase another site sentence by sentence. Where we quote an official source, the quotation is short, marked as a quotation, and attributed.
Why there are not more pages
Deliberate restraint. It would be easy to split every question onto its own thin page to chase more search queries. We have not, because a reader trying to solve a problem is better served by one thorough page than by five that each answer a fragment. A page exists here only if it answers a distinct question that someone genuinely searches for.
Dates and freshness
Each page shows when it was last reviewed. That date moves only when something on the page actually changed. We do not refresh dates to make old content look current, because that misleads the one reader who is checking whether the information can be trusted.
Who writes and reviews
Note for the site owner: Describe who researches and reviews content here, and add real author profiles under Users with a bio filled in. Do not invent credentials or authors; an honest one-line description of a single operator is more trustworthy than a fabricated editorial board. Delete this paragraph once you have done it.
Independence
Nobody pays us to recommend anything. Advertising, where present, is separated from editorial content and has no influence on what we write. We do not accept sponsored content about government services, and we do not accept advertising that impersonates one.
This page is starter content supplied with the theme. It is a reasonable starting point written for an independent information website, but it is not legal advice and it does not by itself make the site compliant with any law, platform policy or regulation. Review it, edit it to match how this site actually operates, and take professional advice if your situation calls for it.
