Maharashtra Digital Crop Survey (DCS MH)

Which app to use, how to record a crop survey, and what to do when it fails. Plain language, sourced from official material.

Digital Crop Survey in Maharashtra (DCS MH)

The Digital Crop Survey (DCS MH) is how Maharashtra now records the standing crop in each plot — through a mobile app and geo-tagged photos rather than on paper. People arrive here searching for many names for the same thing: DCS MH, MahaDCS, DCS crop survey Maharashtra, or the e-Pik Pahani app. This page brings the whole process together in plain English.

Not everyone needs the same app. A farmer recording their own sowing uses one app, a surveyor on assigned duty uses another, and a Farmer ID comes from a separate registry. Start by working out which app you need, then follow how to record a crop survey, fix a DCS MH login or app download problem, or check whether your entry was saved. If you still need a Farmer ID, that has its own steps.

We work from official sources and name them on every page. Where we could not verify something — a date, a deadline or a fee — we say so plainly rather than guessing.

What is DCS MH?

Read the full explainer

The Digital Crop Survey (DCS MH) is a Government of India initiative under the Ministry of Agriculture, part of the national Digital Agriculture Mission. It records accurate, geo-tagged data on the crops sown and the type of irrigation used across farmland in Maharashtra — through a mobile app and photos taken in the field, rather than on paper.

The stated goal is a single, verified source of truth for farmer and crop data that many departments and agencies can rely on, including banks and insurance agencies. In its own words, the portal aims to “ensure consistency in records across all databases” — naming land and crop record systems such as Parihara, RTC and Samrakshane — so that every system works from accurate, up-to-date information in good time. That is what lets crop insurance, agricultural loans and state schemes draw on the same records.

Key features

  • Field survey data capture — designated personnel or farmers log crop names, areas and irrigation methods for each plot.
  • Geo-tagging — photos and plot locations are tagged automatically, to verify the actual conditions on the ground.
  • Farmer login — a farmer can check or manage their own crop survey directly from a mobile phone.

Understand the survey

Each season runs farmer level first, then surveyor level. Once the farmer-level window closes you cannot make your own entry, so do it in time.
